What does this mean?
The practice has Student Nurses on placement with us and we are also responsible for finding placements for up to 80 Student Nurses per year in local practices.
You may meet these Student Nurses as they shadow our clinician’s consultations.
Why?
We need to future proof the Nursing workforce and encourage student to take the path of General Practice Nursing.
We are able to provide training in 3 areas a Nurse needs to study in to qualify so we are an ideal site to train these Nurses;
We are also ideal for Paramedics to study with and so you may meet these in consultation shadowing the GP’s or nurses in the future.
We have been a Training Practice for many years with regards to GP registrars, Foundation GPs and Medical Students.
A GP Registrar consults with patients alone as they are a qualified doctor specialising in General Practice. They are in training to become a GP and they may seek extra advice from their colleagues.
A Foundation Doctor is a qualified doctor gaining valuable GP experience before they make their decision in what they are going to specialise in. You will see the Foundation doctor alone and they are qualified to treat you, they may seek extra support from their GP trainer.
A Medical Student is a doctor in training; they are not yet qualified as a doctor but are here to see patients under the direct supervision of their GP trainer. You will see the student and then the GP trainer with these appointments.
We value your support
