Changes to your medication

If you ask for a change to your usual prescription, it may take longer to process.

  • Sometimes the request may show as “rejected” while we complete the update.
  • This does not always mean your request has been refused.
  • Please only contact us if it has been more than 72 hours and the change still does not appear.

This helps us keep the service safe and reduce delays for all patients.

Why use the NHS App for your prescriptions?
The NHS App makes ordering and tracking your medicines easier:

✅ See straight away if your request has been approved or rejected.
✅ Check the status any time, day or night – no need to wait for the practice to open.
✅ Save time – order repeat prescriptions from home or on the go.
✅ Keep all your requests in one safe, secure place.
👉 If you don’t use the NHS App, you can still order medicines in other ways – but you won’t be able to see the live update on your request.

  • Acute medication – medication that may require more regular monitoring or is for short-term use only
  • Counterfoil – this is the slip that is attached to the green part of the printed prescription – if you have repeat medication, this will be on the counterfoil

Those on regular medication will be asked to see a a healthcare professional at least once a year for a review and reminders should appear on your counterfoil. Please book an appointment when you get these reminders, to avoid unnecessary delays to further requests.
