Saxenda cannot be initiated by your GP. Currently on Wirral, the Saxenda pathway must be initiated by tier 3 weight management. More information about Tier 3 Weight Management is available via this link: https://www.wchc.nhs.uk/services/weight-management/

The referral criteria for Tier 3 Weight Management Service is a patient aged 18+ with a BMI of 39.9+. There are some resource problems across Wirral for Tier 3 Weight Management Services and waiting times for the service are extremely long.

If you wanted to pursue Saxenda, you can chat to your local pharmacist. Some pharmacies are offering this service privately as it is not readily available on the NHS.

We can offer you support by booking you an appointment with one of our Health Coaches. Our Health Coaches can continue to support those patients wanting Tier 3 referrals by offering lifestyle support, motivational techniques etc. To make the most appropriate use of our resource we ensure patients booked in with the Health Coaches are looking for guidance, support and education and are committed to making a change that will give them a better quality of life.
